Glow in the Dark Golf – Fun and Fundraising for Local Community Improvement
Farmers Golf and Health Club in Sanborn glowed well past dark on Friday, July 10th as fifty-two golfers turned out for the Lamberton Area Community Foundation’s third annual Glow Ball Golf Tournament. The event raised just over $2,000 that will go back into the community through next year’s grant awards.
Playing glow ball is a whole different experience. The balls glow, lights mark the flags and cups, and glow markers light up the course so you can see where you’re going. Players shine in the darkness too, with glow stick necklaces, bracelets, and whatever else they can clip on. Teams decorated their carts too, adding to the light show. Once it’s fully dark, the glowing balls arcing across the course are a sight to see.
“I really enjoy it because it’s such a unique golfing experience. I love watching the lighted balls fly through the sky. There’s no pressure, no competition — you’re just out there having a good time,” says Debbie Vollmer, LACF Board member.

Support the Foundation Year-Round
The Glow Ball Tournament is just one of the ways the Foundation raises money to support community improvement. The Foundation accepts donations year-round in different formats. In addition to a personal check, you can give appreciated stock, grain or other commodities, farmland, retirement plan assets, or include a bequest in your will, all of which can come with tax advantages.
There’s also the option of a charitable gift annuity, where you make a gift of cash or securities and receive fixed annual payments back for the rest of your life. Donations are made through Southwest Initiative Foundation for the benefit of the Lamberton Area Community Foundation.
